Food Bank of Northern Nevada

Healthy Food. Every Person. Every Day.

About Us

Our Mission: Feeding the hungry today and solving hunger for tomorrow through community partnership.

About Us

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada connects families and individuals to the food and resources they need to thrive. Working with more than 155 partner agencies and through direct service programs, we create opportunities for over 160,000 neighbors each month to access fresh, nourishing meals. This includes children, seniors, and others working toward brighter futures.

What began as a small pantry has grown into a regional hub of hope. For more than 40 years, we have proudly served northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra in California. Last fiscal year, we provided over 21 million meals, fueling resilience and well-being across our communities.

Our Vision for the future

Healthy Food. Every Person. Every Day

Serving OUr Community for More than 40 Years

Every meal served, every caring food package delivered transforms lives and creates opportunities for brighter futures. What began in 1983 as a small food pantry powered by passionate volunteers has grown into northern Nevada’s leading hunger relief organization, connecting communities with nourishing food and vital resources.

As we reflect on more than 40 years of service, we celebrate the countless lives we have touched together. Looking ahead, we remain steadfast in our mission to ensure everyone in our region has access to the nourishment they need to thrive. It’s a mission that drives us every day.

HOW WE CONNECT COMMUNITIES WITH NOURISHING FOOD

The Food Bank works with our partners, volunteers, and donors to ensure access to nourishing meals for our neighbors. We collect and distribute donated and purchased food to food pantries, shelters, senior centers, school programs, and other vital community hubs. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to make these connections possible, fostering resilience and hope across our region.

Neighbors Facing Hunger

Neighbors Facing Hunger

Children, families and seniors have the nutritious food they need to thrive.

Who We Serve

Hunger impacts all corners of our community, touching the lives of neighbors from every background – your colleagues, your child’s classmates, and seniors who have helped shape our neighborhoods. Every month, through a network of more than 155 partner agencies and direct programs, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada supports over 160,000 neighbors. Nearly half of those we serve are children and seniors, individuals who embody the promise of our future and the wisdom of our past. In Nevada, one in five children experiences food insecurity, and together, we are committed to creating a future where no child or senior goes without the nourishment they need to thrive.

Families

Families

Many families navigating food insecurity today rely on multigenerational households or shared living arrangements to maximize resources. These evolving family structures reflect the strength, resilience, and unity of those we serve through our programs and partnerships.

Children

Children

Proper nutrition is vital for children to reach their full potential. Without it, children may face challenges in health, education, and development. For those under five, a lack of proper nourishment can lead to developmental delays that may impact their future. By ensuring children have access to the food they need, we are helping build a healthier, brighter future for them and our community.

Seniors

Seniors

Many seniors living on fixed incomes, often under $950 a month, are faced with difficult choices between food, medicine, and other essential needs. Despite years of hard work, many still struggle to access the nutritious food they need to stay healthy and active. By supporting our senior neighbors, we honor their contributions to our community and help ensure they have the resources to thrive in their later years.

Programs & Services

Distributing Food

Distributing Food

Through strong partnerships with more than 155 agencies and programs such as Mobile Harvest, Produce on Wheels, and senior commodity boxes, we work together to ensure that nutritious food reaches those who need it most. These programs reflect our shared commitment to building healthier, more resilient communities across the region.
