You likely have already heard that Pine Middle School will be closed for an additional two weeks when the remainder of Washoe County School District students return from Winter Break on January 11. During the extended closure, the Food Bank is working closely with the Washoe County School District, Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, and our Partner Agency Rehoboth Holy Temple Food Pantry to ensure that families impacted have access to the resources they need. We know that many students’ families rely on the school’s breakfast and lunch programs and are here to help make sure that students don’t miss meals because of the closure.

The Kids Cafe program will be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals are free for all children through age 18. Please note, meals must be eaten on site in accordance program rules.

Lunch: 12:00-12:30pm | Neil Road Rec Center Gym

Family Breakfast Bag Distribution

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada will hold a special food distribution to provide families with breakfast items. Please note: This distribution is for Pine Middle School families only. Clients must bring either a current Pine Middle School Student ID or the Food Resources Flier, which was handed out at town hall meetings regarding the closure.

Aramelle Wheeler is the Marketing & Communications Coordinator at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Aramelle joined the Food Bank in 2012 and is proud to be part of the fight against hunger in our community. Aramelle grew up in a family that often struggled with not having enough food and considers it an honor to be able to help other families like hers. She loves social media and really loves it when Food Bank friends share their hunger fighting fun with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
