You CAN Make a Difference | CANstruction 2016
January 13, 2016
Attorneys know how to build a case—but can they build a movement? This May, the Washoe County Bar Association (WCBA) is teaming up with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada for the “Bar” Food Drive, a spirited competition where law firms and legal professionals go head-to-head to fight hunger in our community.
From May 1 to May 23, 2025, participating teams will collect food and monetary donations, tracking their progress online to see who can rally the most support. It’s a battle of teamwork, strategy, and a little friendly rivalry—all in the name of making a real difference for thousands of families across northern Nevada.
The “Bar” Food Drive officially launches on May 1 at 5:30 p.m. with a Kick-Off Party at Brasserie St. James—the perfect place to sign up, make first donations, and start the competition with some great company.
And what’s a competition without a little flair? Attendees are encouraged to dress in food- or drink-themed costumes. Whether you show up as a walking avocado toast, a spaghetti-and-meatballs duo, or something completely out-of-the-box, you’ll have a shot at winning prizes for:
So bring your A-game—and your best pun-based outfit! (Just remember, no food donations at the event—save those for the collection barrels!)

Once the final donations are counted, it’s time to celebrate the champions. On June 11, the WCBA will host its Annual CLE Luncheon at Silver Peak, where top-performing teams will be recognized and awarded.
Trophies, bragging rights, and a year of glory are at stake—so bring your best fundraising skills!

The legal profession is rooted in advocacy—now’s the time to put that advocacy into action in a whole new way.
Right now, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada serves 160,000 people every month, including children, seniors, and hardworking families struggling to put food on the table. By stepping up to the “Bar” Food Drive, attorneys and law firms can use their collective strength to ensure more people in our community get the food they need.
Are you a legal professional? Sign up today and challenge your colleagues to do the same!
Not an attorney? You can still support the cause by encouraging the lawyers in your life to participate or by making a donation to one of the competing teams.
Let’s show what the legal community can do when it comes together for good. Join the challenge, and let’s fight hunger—one case (of food) at a time!
