If you are in need of food assistance, we ask that you review the resources listed here or call with questions about locations and schedules for distributions. We may not be able to accommodate requests for food assistance from those who arrive at the Food Bank warehouse.
Kids Cafe Summer Meals
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada’s Kids Cafe program also offers free breakfast/snack and lunch to children 2-18 years old throughout summer break. Meals are served at a variety of community locations throughout the summer. In 2024, the Kids Cafe Summer Meals program will serve children in Reno/Sparks, Fernley, Lovelock, Winnemucca, Elko, and Wells. Meals are also available in additional communities through other organizations. Reno/Sparks Community*
The Food Bank’s Summer Meals program will provide free meals throughout the Washoe County School District summer break. Meals will also be available on Saturdays at most Reno/Sparks locations, and some will serve meals on Sunday!
- Meals will be available daily Monday-Saturday, June 12-August 9.
- Meals are available to all children and teens ages 2-18 years old.
- All meals must be eaten in the designated area and may not be taken home.

Please note: yori park was listed as a meal site on the community flyer & schedule that was originally published and distributed to students at area schools. however, due to a conflict with road closures for construction on yori avenue, meals will not be available this summer at yori park. we apologize for any confusion and are working to identify an alternative location. please check back here for updates.
Rural northern nevada Communities*
- Meals are available to all children and teens ages 2-18 years old.
- Distributions are held weekly. Each child will receive 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches per distribution.
- Children must be present at time of meal pick-up.

*Kids Cafe Summer Meals is funded in part by the USDA Summer Food Service Program, and the Food Bank is required to follow rules established by the USDA and Nevada Department of Agriculture regarding the age of partcipants served meals through the program and the parameters in place regarding which sites serve multi-day meals and which sites have daily service with a requirement for children to remain on-site while eating.
Kids Cafe DInner Program
Throughout the school year, the Kids Cafe Dinner Program serves after school meals at several schools and community centers throughout the Reno/Sparks area. The dinner program does not run when school is not in session; however, during scheduled school breaks, lunch is typically available at a handful of sites across Reno/Sparks.
- Meals are available at no charge for all children and youth ages 2-18.
- Children do not have to attend any after school programming being offered at the time of meal service in order to be served dinner.
- Meals need to be eaten on-site.
All dinner sites will be closed during the Washoe County School District summer break. The last day of meal service through the Kids Cafe Dinner Program is Thursday, June 6.
Non-Citizens & USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) Programs
Non-citizens and their family members may be eligible to participate in several programs operated by the Food and Nutrition Service, including meals for kids. Applying for or receiving benefits DOES NOT make someone a “public charge.” Visit the USDA’s Non-Citizen Communities webpage for more details.
