SNAP (Food Stamp) Outreach at Farmers Markets

 

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada offers SNAP (Food Stamp) outreach to clients at a variety of locations each month.  Outreach workers help clients fill out the application, they conduct the interview, and they deliver the paperwork for processing.  This assistance can be vital in connecting families with SNAP benefits that helps to provide access to adequate nutritious food for their families. 

This year, the Food Bank has added several Farmers Markets to the outreach schedule to assist more clients in getting connected with these important benefits.  This schedule includes outreach workers at the following farmers markets throughout the season:  Carson City, 3rd & Curry St. , Saturday:  8:30 a.m.—1::30 p.m., Fallon-Tuesday, 310 S. Taylor St., Tuesday: 5:00 –8:00 p.m., Sparks, 1231 Pyramid Way- Tuesdays:  8:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m., Hawthorne– Every other Friday beginning June 15:  10:00 a.m.—1 p.m., Dayton, Community Roots– Hwy 50 & 2nd Ave., Thursdays: 3:00—6:30 p.m., Silver Springs, Penny Park—1355 Donner Trail, Thursday:  8:30—11:00 a.m. and  Dayton, Hwy 50 & 2nd Ave. , Thursday:  3:00—6:00 p.m.

In addition, EBT (SNAP benefits) are being accepted by a number of Farmers at the Markets including Lattin Farms, Holley Farms, and Community Roots Stands.  Additional information about these farms can be found at www.lattinfarms.com, www.healthycomm.org and www.holleyfamilyfarms.com.
