NV Energy Helps Children

NV Energy has provided a $10,000 to help fund food purchase for the Back-Pack Kids Program at the Food Bank.  This valuable program is funded entirely through donations and provides weekend food for our most vulnerable children.  In Washoe County the Food Bank is currently delivering more than 1,100 bags of food to 28 local schools each week.  The bags cost approximately $5 per student every week so donations such as this are so important to this program and to these children.

Adequate nutrition is vital to help children grow, thrive and learn.  With the record levels of unemployment in northern Nevada, programs that help feed children are so important.  In the state as a whole, one out of every two children qualifies for free lunch at school.  The Back-Pack Kids program helps the children that are homeless or chronically hungry.  Thanks to NV Energy for helping these children succeed.
