Thank you Cabela's!

Cabela's wanted to start a fun yearly archery shoot and also wanted to give back at the same time.  They chose two charities to benefit from the event.  The Food Bank of Northern Nevada was lucky enough to be one of these charities and the other was Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  They set up two courses.  One was the shooters course, which was a marked course located just across from the Cabela's parking lot (Thank you Boomtown for letting them set up there) and the other was a hunter's course located on the other side of the freeway in the foothills.  There were two hundred participants who came to the inaugural event and varied from experienced hunters to novice shooters, and families!  With the generosity of the team at Cabela's and their very hard work, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada received a donation of $2,006, which can help provide over 8,000 meals to those who need them in our area.  Shooters also brought about 50 lbs in food donations as well.  The Cabela's team did such a great job and were so wonderful to work with.  A special thank you from our team to Jamie Klund and Mike Aiazzi from Cabela's who tolerated our ignorance about the sport and who were so focused on having a first rate event that ultimate fed families right here where we live.
We cannot wait for next year, and there was talk during the event, of a 2nd year shoot happening the same weekend in 2012.  We hope it all works out and would be proud to be invited back.

Thank you Cabela's for taking aim at hunger.
