St. Paul's in a Jam

by jlantrip

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sparks set its community food pantry theme as “We’re in a Jam” for the month of June.

The church began its food pantry more than 6 years ago to provide emergency food to those in the Reno-Sparks area. The pantry offers families a three-day supply of food.

The food pantry served 32, 628 people in 2011. Prior to 2009, it was open once a week, but then increased its service to twice a week.

St. Paul’s Community Food Pantry receives the food through a partnership with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, individual donations and contributions from local grocery stores.

The pantry requests peanut butter, jelly and jam to support its theme for June.

The pantry is open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

For information on how to donate or volunteer, contact the church at (775) 358-4474.
