Food Insecurity Information

by jlantrip

As you are aware, hunger directly affects the health or lack of health for every person. Basic nutrition is an important key to basic health. In 2010, close to 15% of Nevadans were food insecure, which means they had difficulty providing enough food for themselves and their family.

To reduce or eliminate food insecurity in Nevada, a statewide strategic planning process is underway. In order to create an effective plan, Nevadans are asked to complete this survey to help the Strategic Planning Steering Committee understand food insecurity among Nevadans.

To assist in this effort we ask that you help us to gather as much information as we can about food insecurity in our state and the clients we serve.   Below is a link to the online survey.

If you work with people who are food insecure, or if you are food insecure, please help us by filling out this survey.  If you need printed copies, please let us know.

Completed written surveys can be sent to us at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada at 550 Italy Drive, McCarran, NV 89434 or SEI at 6548 S. McCarran Blvd., Suite B Reno, NV 89509.  The deadline is June 29, 2012.

If you help people who are food insecure, we’d love it if you could also post the survey on your website.   Participants will be eligible for random drawings held across the state for a chance to win a $20 gift card to a local grocery store.  In addition to the drawing, focus groups will be conducted where each participant will be given a $10 grocery store gift card to thank them for their time. Nevadans can volunteer for a focus group by completing this survey. To be eligible for the drawing and focus group, you MUST complete all mandatory questions marked with three asterisks (***) and must be a Nevada resident.

All responses will remain anonymous. If you would like to take this survey online, please go to:
