CANstruction 2013

Thank you to all the teams, the local architects and mentors and Reno's Meadowood Mall where we stated CANstruction March 20 to 24. From these creative works of CAN-structed food art, we have 15,128 pounds of food valued at $25,112. Many garnered prizes such as Structural Integrity, Best Meal, and the People's Choice. Here is a link to our flickr account to view the images.

This year, we will add the Ric Licata “CAN DO” award to be awarded to the student team that best exemplifies team spirit and cooperation.  We dedicate this award to our long-time friend and CANstruction champion Ric Licata who passed away in August 2012.  Two teams won that first honor.
CANstruction is a visually stimulating and educational food drive that combines architecture, design, learning and planning.  It brings professionals in the architecture, design and construction fields together with students for a great experience that feeds people at the same time.  For more information about CANstruction call Fred Graham at 775-846-6088 or email him at fgraham@worthgroup.com

Summer Concerts Make Hunger History

It's not too soon to look forward to summer concerts, is it?

We don't think so! Here's a peek at last year's performer, Ruthie Foster, who wowed the crowd at Hawkins Amphitheatre and who advocated for our cause to Make Hunger History. This YouTube video will make you nostalgic, if you were there or will give you something to look forward to this coming year.

The 2013 concert is still in the planning stages. We'll keep you posted right here on our website.

Letter Carriers Drive

You did your part to Stamp out Hunger during the largest one-day national food drive on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

Locally, letter carriers picked up 185,850 pounds of food that residents left next to mail boxes. We are now sorting it in our warehouse where it will be distributed to needy children, families and seniors. Please check the volunteer page to find out how to take part.

Drive-By Food Drive

We celebrated the 20th Year of the KTVN Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive in December 2012 in grand style.

By the end of the 13-hour drive by food drive at Reno's Grand Sierra, the folks in Reno and Sparks contributed more than 75,000 pounds of food and more than $117,000 to help those who are in need of food resources.

Our hearts are filled by the generosity of those who care so much.

This gift from our partner KTVN Channel 2 has rasied more than 800,000 pounds of food for the community's Food Bank in Reno-Sparks alone in the past 20 years!
