Bringing in around 200,000 lbs of food to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada each year, the Letter Carriers' Food Drive is a convenient and simple way for those in our community to come together and provide a helping hand to our neighbors in need. This year, the famous Stamp Out Hunger event will be held on Saturday, May 10, and participating is easy! Simply place your non-perishable, non-expired food donation items by your mailbox on Saturday morning, and your letter carrier will pick up your donation.

With food items brought in through holiday food drives already gone, and the warehouse shelves at the Food Bank looking bare, the Letter Carriers' Food Drive comes at a most needed time. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is incredibly thankful for all who donate through this food drive and for the dedication and hard work our local letter carriers put in each year to make this event such a great success.

The 2014 food drive is being sponsored locally by Smith's Food and Drug.

Whether you’re looking for a great date night with that special someone, a fun night out with friends, or an evening of family fun perfect for kids of all ages, the Together We Can Solve Hunger Concert is the perfect way to welcome Summer while supporting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

Each summer the Food Bank of Northern Nevada presents a concert that helps to raise funds that deliver nutritious meals to children when they are out of school. Summer can be a difficult time for children who are hungry and the Together We Can Solve Hunger is a fun way to get out in the community and give back.

For this year’s concert, we’re excited to welcome The Black Lillies to Reno all the way from Knoxville, TN. The Black Lillies are a great blend of new grass rhythms, an authentic brand of country, and Americana music. Check out The Black Lillies' YouTube channel to hear some of their amazing music! “With one foot planted firmly in Appalachian music culture and the other always expanding and evolving, the Black Lillies have created a unique sound embraced by fans old and young.” Vanity Fair Opening for The Black Lillies is Aria 51, of the Aria Aria School of Music & Art.

Food and Beverage will be for sale by Great Basin Brewing Company, Famous Dave’s, TCBY and the Hot Dog Rod.

Major funding for the show provided by Lithia of Reno, IGT, Catalyst 360 and WETLAB.

Supporters of the concert include Event Services, Inc., Washoe County Parks & Open Space, Studio 33, Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Rocket Sound, KTVN Channel 2, Recycled Records, KTHX – the X.

Letter Carriers Drive

You did your part to Stamp out Hunger during the largest one-day national food drive on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

Locally, letter carriers picked up 185,850 pounds of food that residents left next to mail boxes. We are now sorting it in our warehouse where it will be distributed to needy children, families and seniors. Please check the volunteer page to find out how to take part.

Drive-By Food Drive

We celebrated the 20th Year of the KTVN Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive in December 2012 in grand style.

By the end of the 13-hour drive by food drive at Reno's Grand Sierra, the folks in Reno and Sparks contributed more than 75,000 pounds of food and more than $117,000 to help those who are in need of food resources. Our hearts are filled by the generosity of those who care so much.

This gift from our partner KTVN Channel 2 has rasied more than 800,000 pounds of food for the community's Food Bank in Reno-Sparks alone in the past 20 years!
