Who We Serve

Among clients who visit emergency food program sites, 11% are over age 60.  Children are the most vulnerable to hunger – 41% of emergency food recipients from the Food Bank of Northern Nevada were children under the age of 18 last year.  The vital statistics of who we serve is available here.

    The Food Bank of Northern Nevada believes that no child should go hungry.  Over 40% of Washoe County School Children currently qualify for free or reduced school lunch.  It is vital that these children are given every opportunity to get the nourishment to help them grow, learn and thrive.

Last year, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada distributed more than 10.5 million pounds of food to over 210,000  low-income seniors, children and families.
